Well now, We suppose you want to be updated on what has happened since Thanksgiving.

The last One Gospel of 2010 happened on December 2nd, and it was a major win!  The theme of the night was "I Am Yours," and there was an SPO One Gospel final exam, an epic talk, and a video made by your favorite team was made!  Check it out!

On behalf of all of SPO, the creative team hopes you have had a great Advent season, and that you will have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Be ready for the epicness that willl occur in 2011.  I can feel the fire burning already, can you help fan it? (hint).

Thanksgiving Break!!!

Gobble gobble.

Do you hear that?

Gobble gobble gobble gobble gobble gobble gobble gobble

Sounds like Thanksgiving!

Moooooooooooooooooooo

Ah, the fattened calf. That sounds like the prodigal son has returned.

But really, it's Thanksgiving on Thursday.

That's right.  It is that time of year for football, turkey, and pumpkin pie.

It is that time of year to give thanks for all that has been given to us, and for us to catch up with our families.

It's that time of year where Uncle Dave debates with Aunt Jemima about politics in an argument that will never end because neither of them are listening to what the other is saying.  Cousin Cletus eats all the cat food, the cat eats all the dog food, and the dog eats all of Cletus's food.  It's the circle of life. Your Great Aunt Bessie comes to pinch your cheeks to show how cute you are, but this year you have a luscious, black beard that is smoother than a babies bum (okay that is only singular to Andrew from the creative team...and he has no Great Aunt Bessie...shame).  The family comes together and plays in a Turkey bowl, but no one is good at football and the women drink lemonade and talk about the stock exchange.

Yes, Thanksgiving.  What a great time. Did you know that Eucharist means thanksgiving? Just saying.

What are you thankful for?

Buckeye Awakening #3! Aka Awesomeness

This past weekend, a lot of us from SPO went to this AMAZING retreat, Buckeye Awakening #3. We all had an incredible experience on BA#3 that was of epic proportions. The whole retreat was awesome. It just so happens that Andrew from the Creative Team was also on the leadership team of said retreat. He had the opportunity to make an opening video to introduce the theme of BA#3; Love Unfailing. We thought we would share a little bit of that experience with you by also sharing the video. Enjoy.

DMD 11/11/10

This Thursday, November 11th, we at SPO are having ANOTHER Dinner, Movie, and Discussion Night (DMD, for future reference). We will be watching dear Bishop Campbell's favorite movie, Babette's Feast. Now, in considering this movie, we asked ourselves the question: what the heck is a babette? Upon further research, we discovered that a babette is actually a hobbit and it is not a thing, but the name of a hobbit. Babette Baggins is the never mentioned wife of Bilbo Baggins. She spends her time in the Shire making great feasts for hobbits and wizards alike. This feast in particular refers to the bountiful banquet that Babette hosted in honor of  Frodo and company when they returned from destroying the One Ring. Actually, that has absolutely nothing to do with anything in the plot of the movie we're watching. I bet you figured that out already. Clever girl. But here is a trailer to the actual movie.

Come! There will be food (vegetables, but for you we might make an exception). Please note: There is a location change from last time. We will be meeting at the WOMEN'S HOUSE at 6pm.

SPOints for SPOndetta & SPO speech

We spoke of a spooky spokesman who sponsored the spontaneity of a spot in spongy sporadic spools. The spotty spoon spout spoofs of a sporked sponge cake spotlight with many spondees in his spondulix sponsorship. Then Sponge Bob, being the spotty spoilsport that he is, brought his spongy spod, Spock, to the spot where the sporous sponge spoke. Their spoiled spoke spontaneously combusted, turning the sporting sponks into the Sporades. Thus SPO was born.

And out of SPO came spoints.

What are spoints?

Spoints: SPOints (aka spoints) are SPO points. You gain SPOints by doing awesome things. You lose spoints by doing not awesome things. For example:

You gain spoints by:
  • Liking Old Spice
  • Winning Four on a Couch
  • Whipping your hair back and forth
  • Coming up with awesome video ideas
  • Being nice to Andrew
  • Going on a Fan Into Flame retreat
  • Finding Matt Jones
  • Complimenting Will’s watch
  • Commenting on the SPOt blog
  • Going to Adoration
  • Going on an Awakening retreat
  • Giving a talk/testimony at an SPO event
  • Hiking the Appalachian Trail with a  weight vest
  • Joining Google Buzz
  • Going on a retreat when you have massive amounts of homework due the next week
  • LOVE (not luv)
  • Knowing what song we're going to sing next during Praise & Worship
  • Making Melissa homemade cookies =)

You lose spoints by:
  •  Being late to/missing Morning Prayer
  • Missing/being late to Household dinner
  • If you’re a man, using lady-scented body washes
  • Not showering
  • Not coming to Fan Into Flame
  • Eating with the inside fork first
  • Wearing socks with sandals
  • Hatin’
  • Making dinosaur noises in the living room

You must tell Andrew, Leah, and Melissa when you think you get spoints. We shall be the official awarders of spoints.

If you think you should get spoints for a task not mentioned above, you must also get approval from Andrew, Leah, or Melissa.

SPO Oct. 17- 23 Events!

This Thursday (Oct. 21) SPO is having the great MEN'S/WOMEN'S NIGHT.

What kind of MAN does it take to come to a men's night?  Well, I'll tell you.

Are you the kind of man who maintains a Grizzly Adams beard, or wishes that he could grow a Grizzly Adams beard?

Do you wear Old Spice?

Do you sky dive off mountains onto majestic whales and sail them into the crystal clear waters of Antarctica?

Do you  have two tickets to the gun show?

Do you get into philosophical debates about the various kinds of cheeses and their relevance to quantum mechanics?

Is your name Bernard?

Do you pull trucks and then run three miles?

Do you dance with wolves?

Do you wrestle with bears at night?

Do you chant "boys" whenever you win at something?

Do you have the innocence of a lamb, but the strength of a lion?

Do you chop down trees with toothpicks?

Do you like the smell of adventure?

Do you catch fresh water fish with your bare hands?

Do you like to show off your monocle smile?

Do you take a woman out on a night of sweet romance, AND call her back?

Do you drink tea?

Do you play with cute kittens?

Well, you are a man who should be at Men's Night.

What does it mean to be a woman?

Do you think men are silly for everything (but the last three questions) above? Or do you just ask why???

Then you should be at Women's night!
